Also known as: African Padauk, Barwood, Camwood
Botanical Name: Pterocarpus soyauxii
Origin: Central and West Africa
Description: This species has been well known for many years as a dye wood, and from its very strong blood red colour it is easy to see why. On prolonged exposure, however, this colour darkens down to a deep red-brown. Most veneer production is of quartered material but some smaller logs may be flat sliced. Mainly used for furniture and cabinet making.
